Dr. J. David Cassidy is the lead researcher of a new study in the February 15, 2008, supplemental issue of the journal Spine. In this Canadian study, entitled "Risk of Vertebrobasilar Stroke and Chiropractic Care: Results of a Population-Based, Case-Control and Case-Crossover Study," the team of researchers concludes that there is "no evidence of excess risk of VBA stroke associated [with] chiropractic care compared to primary care."
Dr. Cassidy is Scientific Secretary for the Canadian Bone and Joint Decade Task Force on Neck Pain, and Senior Scientist, Division of Health Care and Outcomes Research, Toronto Western Research Institute. This study is one of many published in a Spine supplement discussing the findings of the Bone and Joint Decade 2000-2010 Task Force on Neck Pain and Its Associated Disorders, and is part of the task force's six-years of work.
